EXCURSION TO CHRISTCHURCH

The opportunity afforded by the Reefton League Club, to residents of the West Coast, to undertake a trip to Christchurch during the coming-week-end, has been accepted by more than 400 persons, more than 200 of which are Greymouth residents. The train will leave Reefton at 11 o’clock to-night, and Greymouth at midnight, leaving on return from Christchurch on Sunday morning, at 9 o’clock. The main purpose of the excursion is a field day for League football teams, and these to the number of eight or more, will board the train to-night, and play with Canterbury clubs tomorrow. On Sunday, the Inangahua and Canterbury representative teams meet, the Inangahua side returning to the Coast on Monday.

Owing to several members of the Pirate teams suffering from influenza it has been decided to postpone the fixture, Pirates v. Runanga, at Rapahoe, till a later date. Pirate juniors (v. Pirate fourths to visit Christchurch by to-night’s excursion: McGuire, Monish, Goodall, Roche, Hopkins, Eatwell, Prescott, Jacobs, Mulqueen, (3), Moore, Watson and Messenger.
