Mr. Shakespeare stated in the Commons that the position regarding water shortage over a large part of the country in north-east Wales, and west and south west, as well as part of the Midlands was generally better than a month ago. He (had no (reason to think the water undertakings would not be able to meet the situation provided the consumers continued to make reasonable economies in the use of water. MR. CHURCHILL’S CHARGES RUGBY, June 7. The Committee of Privileges set up by the Commons, to investigate the charges made by Mr. 'Winston Churchill, that there had been a breach of privilege on the part of Sir S. Hoare and Lord Derby, in connection with the presentation of evidence before the joint select committee on Indian constitutional reform, finally approved their report, and it will be presented forthwith to the Commons. The report which will be published on Saturday morning will be debated in the Commons next Wednesday, when it is assumed the Primo Minister will move that the House approve the report and other members of the committee will speak in support of the motion. Mr. Churchill will take part in the debate. Newspapers state the report is unanimous, and this is generally taken to imply that no breach of privilege has been established. ROSE DAY RUGBY. June 7. Alexandra Rose Day will be observed on June 13, for the twenty-third time. It is expected that collections from (be sale of artificial roses this year will bring the total amount obtained through this celebration for hospitals and charities for the sick, to more than two million pounds. While the general response to tlag day appeals has diminished because of the competition to share their benefits, the sale of Alexandra roses is fully maintained not only in the United Kingdom but throughout the Empire.
