RUNANGA NOTES
[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mr V. Armstrong has arrived from Christchurch, on a holiday visit to his parents. A Pontiac Sedan car owned by Mrs Duggan snr., Pitt Street, was destroyed by fire near her residence, last evening. Good progress is being made with the erection of the new school. The concrete foundations will be completed this week, and an immediate start will be made with the erection of the building. The carpenters are at present engaged in building the shelter sheds and dental clinic. Fog, has of late, been prevalent on' the Coal Creek flat, and on Saturday ‘evening was particularly heavy. To 'car drivers it makes driving at night very difficult, as it is impossible to see more than a few feet ahead when driving. One motorist, with more! than 20 years driving experience, conaiders Saturday’s fog the heaviest he has encountered. The number of men on unemployment relief in the Borough is now only 14, in comparison with about 25 at this time last year. Several have found employment at the co-operative mines, and one or two have been employed on the school job.
