A London, cablegram stated that the glorious weather yesterday, tempted the King to resume his morning ride in Hyde Park, for the first time since 1932. He left the Palace at S a.m. for half an hour’s canter in Rotten Row.

Constable F. Horne, Karamea, lef this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. A. Adamson, Hokitika, left, this morning, on a visit to Christchurch Miss O. Flewellyn returned by to day’s express to Christchurch. Mr. W. H.‘McLaughlin left, to-day, on a visit to Christchurch. Mr. M. Butterfield left, to-day, on return to Invercargill. Mr. G. T. Wilson left, this morning, on return to Christchurch.

, Mr. S. Compton, who underwent an operation at the Grey Hospital, yesterday, is progressing satisfactorily. Miss Hilma Cates, who has been visiting Greymouth, left, to-day, on return to Ashburton. Mr. G. Booth, who has been visiting his daughter, Mrs. F. G. Simpson, Teremakau, returned, to-day, to Christchurch. < Miss C. James will arrive, this afternoon, from Christchurch, on a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs I. A. James, Cowper Street.

Mr John McKenzie, of Cobden, who was injured at the north tip-head on ■ Thursday afternoon, passed a fairly comfortable night at the Grey Hospital, but his condition is still serious. Guests at • Revington’s include: — Mrs Hazleton, Mrs’ Brightling, Messrs T. Thomson, H. Longford, E. Brittenden, Turner Smith (Christchurch), L. E. Charge (Sydney). Mr James K. Campbell, late of the office staff of Mason Struthers and Co., Ltd., Christchurch, will arrive today to take a position on the auditing and accountancy staff of J. M. Bunt and Coy.
