FREE MILK SCHEME

AUCKLAND NOT IMPRESSED.

[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.]

AUCKLAND, April 13. Mr Bernard Shaw’s free milk proposal did not impress the members of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council. At a meeting to-day, the Chairman (Mr G. W. Hutchinson) said that he did not know what the producers would be feeling about it. Mr Trousdale (producers’ representative) said it was an excellent idea, provided that the costs were all reimbursed by the Government. Mr Hutchison said it would appear that Mr Shaw was under the impression that water was free. A member: “Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Mr Hutchison: “I am certainly disappointed in the views of some philosophers who have recently been visiting New Zealand.”
