RISE IN WAIHI.
[special to “stab.”]
AUCKLAND, March 19.
The fresh week opened quietly for the Auckland Stock Exchange. The first call bidding was steady at about late rates, until the mining section was reached, and here Waihi’s made a decided jump. Sales were recorded at 35/- and later at 35/6. There were still buyers at the higher figure, but sellers had risen to 36/6. The reason for the latest rise of 5/in a few days is the favourable report from the mine, apart from which the high price of gold is a strong bullish factor. Not for a decade have these shares been worth the price they are to-day. A year ago they were selling at a pound. On to-day’s values, the interest return to the present purchaser based on the latest dividends is approximately 5 5-8 per cent, per annum. King Solomons continued to ease, with sellers at 4/1, and no buyers. BRIAN BORU. The Brian Boru dredge return for last week was Slozs. 14dwts, for 125 hours working.
