BLACKBALL NOTES
[OUR OWN COBRESPONDENT.] On the occasion of the twenty-first birthday of Mr. Norman Smith, a surprise was tendered to him at his home in Blackball last evening. All adjourned to the Druids’ Hall, where the evening was spent in games and dancing. Music was supplied by Miss A. Mason, assisted by Miss J. Anderson. After supper, Mr. Smith was presented with a monogrammed leather suitcase, bv Mr. V. Davies on behalf of his friends. Mr. Smith thanked all present for giving him such an enjoyable evening, and also such excellent gifts. His health and future were then toasted, followed by a toast to his parents. Dancing continued, and the partly finally broke up to the accompaniment of “Auld Lang Syne.” Among those present were: Mesdames Smith, Davies, Goodall, Neilson; Misses K. Connors, E. Day, C. Waters, E. McDougal, L. Balderstone, M. Shields, B. Goodall, D. Balderstone, M. Allen, M. McVicar, C. Martin, J. Frickleton, J. Anderson, M. Waters, A. Mason, D. Mason, D. O’Brien; Messrs.
