Claudio Mattaboni was acquitted on a charge of manslaughter of Edward Jordan, at Kalgoorlie, in a fight which led to the goldfield riots, in which two men were killed, three shot, and many others injured, and damage by burning and looting totalled over £70,000. The evidence showed that Mattaboni and Jordan engaged in a fair fight, and no weapons were used.
