Excellently trained children, a large and appreciative audience, beautiful costuming and bright songs, recitations and playettes provided all that was necessary to ensure the success of the annual concert at the Kaiata School last evening. The various items were splendidly rendered and a happy atmosphere pervaded the entire entertainment from the first to the last item. The interest taken in the children by the teachers Mr Kenneth .McNaughton and Miss May Hopkinson was clearly evidenced in the finished manner in which the items were rendered. Great credit is due to the teachers and pupils for the high standard maintained. Prior to the opening item Mr McNaughton ex-

pressed his thanks to the parents ana to the Committee for rising so well to the occasion by providing all the necessary dresses and costumes. At the conclusion of the programme, Santa Claus with his assistant entered one of the school windows, to much enthusiastic cheering. With joke and jest, Santa distributed the prizes as well as the gifts from the tree, after which he congratulated the teachers and the committee on their prize-list and the valuable gifts handed out to the children. Three cheers were called for Santa as he disappeared out of the window. The headmaster, Mr V. H. Reid, thanked the Lake Brunner Sawmilling Company, the parents, and the members of the School Committee for their generous response to the Christmas tree and prize funds.
