[by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] SYDNEY, December 12. Advice has been received that Sarazen and Kirkwood have cancelled their proposed tour of Australia and. New Zealand. The reason, so far, is not disclosed. LATER. Archie Keane, manager in Australia for Sarazen and Kirkwood, thinks the opposition in Victoria to the tour may have influenced Kirkwood’s decision. The Victorians are particularly anxious ;to postpone the visit, so that it will synchronise with the centenary celebrations in November 1934. It is even I hinted that in the event of the arrival in February, the Victorian Clubs will refuse to make their courses available. ATHLETICS. NEW YORK, December 12. The Amateur Athletic Union, National division informed the Australian Press Association that Didrickson forfeited her amateur status, following her decision a year ago to turn professional. She had then won the right to reinstatement as an amateur, following her disqualification by the A.A.A. (5/12/1932) on a charge that she had permitted her photograph and an interview to be used for automobile advertisement. She denied that advertisement was authorised. The denial was accepted, and reinstatement followed. She, however, turned professional as a direct result, as she said, of the controversy. At the present time, she is touring the country -with a professional basketball team.
