Herbert Holland, 17, ended a drama of unrequited love at Ulabam, a ; .remote Arkansaw village, by murdering’ the 16-yeav-dld girl he loved, and- his rival and his own brother.
Young Holland, who had been insanely in love with Naomi Bailey (16), walked into the home of Clarence Holland, hiy brother, where Naomi.- and William Boatright were seated with Holland at breakfast. Herbert accused his brother of fa-vouring’-Boatright’s suit for the' girl’s hand instead of his own. ,£&■Clarence laughed outright, when Herbert said: “J. should shoot the lot of you.” Ten minutes- later Herbert returned with a,.shotgun and killed them, as' they sat. Ho then surrendered to the sheriff.
