Mr R. A. N. McSoriley has been appointed deputy-Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths, for the district of Grey.

Mr and Mrs W. Rathbun, senr., returned by Saturday’s express from Christchurch. Mr Rathbun has been visiting Sydney.

Rev. Percy Paris, of St. Kilda, Dunedin, has tendered his resignation to the Literary Committee of the Methodist Church, from the position of editor of the “Methodist Times.”

The Secretary of State for India has appointed Sir Louis Kershaw (Assistant Under-Secretary of State) to be Deputy Under-Secretary for India with effect from December 21, in succession to Sir Malcolm Seton, who is about to retire. Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Millar, Cobden, entertained a number of guests on Saturday evening, to celebrate the coming of age of their daughter Voney. The supper tables were decorated with roses, carnations and maiden hair fern. During supper the customary key was preseiited to the guest of the z evening by Mr. W. D. Murray. Games and competitions were held interspersed with songs rendered by Misses Joyce Hignett and Gladys Higson and Messrs Harold Prescott, Ev. and Harold Boote and Tom Hatch; also exhibition dances by Miss Doris Pound and Les.
