up a large territory' in the Victoria River Downs district. Owing co the difficulties of providing suitable ray* wav communications in the area, it U uncertain whether this group will be able to make an acceptable, proposal to the Government. The situation is further complicated by the fact that part of the territory sought is in Western Australia. The Government hopes by means of the prospectus to attract investors to the Barkly Tablelands area. It is clear, however, that the invitation to British investors has not produced the response hoped for, and the belief is growing that, unless the terms of its plan are modified and ib< ; offer is made even more attractive, it will fail.. ~
