HOKITIKA, November 7.
The funeral of the late Mrsi Jane Green took place yesterday, Requiem Mass being held in St. Mary’s Church. The fortnightly meeting of the Mining Executive of the County Council took place on Saturday night, when there were present Messrs J. A. Murdoch (chairman), R. Cox, and M. Keenan. An apology was made for the absence of Mr W. Jeffries. Reports showed that gold won by subsidised men for the fortnight amounted to 250 z 2Jdw. Renewals of subsidy were granted to the following:—J. C., Browne, Pukekura; T. Taylor, Taipo; A. Muir, Three Mile; H. Smyth, Three Mile; H. McMahon, Kumara; A. Olsen, South Spit; W. Willoughby, Back Creek; F. D. Payn, Kumara; E. S.. Silk and F. Turton, Matainui; J. McDonald, Kumara; J. Davern, Rimu; F. Lackner, Duffers Road; E. McMurtie, Stafford; D. Clinton, Rimu; W. McCormack, Rimu; J. J. Lalor, Kumara; A. McNeil, transfer to Humphreys; and J. Davern, to supply particulars of claim’s prospects. The supervise!’ reported on work done in the Humphreys and Blu,e Spur areas, which were considered encouraging. He strongly recommended that an extension of time for the option on the race should be asked for to thoroughly prospect the area, which is fairly extensive. Mr Keenan gave notice to move that the wages of Supervisor Cooper be increased.
Supervisor Cooper reported progress at Pine Creek, Side Creek, Arahura, Blue Spur, Stafford, Goldsborough, Larrikins, and Teremakau by subsidised men. Accounts amounting to £37/16/4 were passed for payment.
