MAORI GULLY DREDGE.

The Maori Gully (Kokiri) GoldDredging Company, Ltd., went to allotment, last evening.

WAITAHU G.M. CO. The Waitahu Gold Mining Company, Ltd., reports that the directors and secretary have just returned from a visit to the claim. Sluicing operations commenced on Friday, October 20, and, despite the severe drought during the lats three months, a good supply of water, estimated at eleven heads under a pressure of 450 feet, was at the nozzle. The water race is a firstclass job, and there is very little leakage of water —this is unusual with a freshly-constructed water race, and reflects great credit on the claim manager, Mr. P. Thomas. Three shifts daily are being worked, and present operations consist of the stripping of the top material, which is being discharged through a run of gold-saving boxes 4ft. 2in. wide. On the completion of the stripping of the first paddock, the elevator .will be sunk for the treatment of the bottom wash. The management anticipate that steady progress will now be made and satisfactory returns can be expected.
