COMMERCIAL
WOOL INDUSTRY. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, October 1. Mr Devereux reports: London sales continued firm at opening rates for all good greasy merinos and crossbreds, largely owing to active competition from Yorkshire and Germany. There has been an easier tendency in Bradford quotations for merino tops, but hardly sufficient business to adequately test the market. Users are well covered, and are keeping off the market. Crossbreds can be bought a shade less, but medium coarse is firm at fully late rates. A good inquiry for medium sorts, but actual business is small. Machinery activity is well maintained on existing contracts. Crossbreds are generally firm. Fair business with Home export. Continental futures are slightly lower.
