PRISONERS SENTENCED
■ ■ TWO BAD CHARACTERS. H [I’EIJ PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ■ AUCKLAND, October 2. H' May Matilda Lowden, 25, appeared sentence, to-day, on a charge of Herdman granted her pro|B.tion for two years on condition she in a home for one year. ■fcounsel said she had lived with her
husband for only six weeks, and with the second man for only three days. The Judge said the police report was unsatisfactory. She was always associating with sailors.
A sentence of live years’ hard labour was passed by Justice Herdman to-day on Tire! Broune, 44, f or incest with two of his daughters.
Counsel said that prisoner was the father of 15 children, ten of whom were alive. He had lived in the backblocks of Coromandel. The offences were committed during the temporary absence of his wife.
The Judge said the prisoner had shown himself an utterly depraved man.
