The funeral of the late 'Catherine Curtain took place, this morning, at Ahaura Cemetery. Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Ahaura, was celebrated by Rev. Father O’Meeghan, who also conducted the service at the graveside.

A Stratford Press Association telegram announced the death of Mr. Adolph Manoy, Managing Director oi Manoy’s, Ltd., and a well-known. Taranaki business man, whose funeral will be at Wellington on Wednesday. Deceased' leaves a widow and three daughters.

Mr. John Newton Stephenson, of Opunake, has been appointed Diocesan secretary and treasurer to the Diocese of Nelson, in succession to the late Mr. James Williams. Mr. Stephenson, who at one time was in the Bank of New Ze'cfland, has been for the last nine years secretary and treasurer to the Opunake Electric Power Board. Mr. Stephenson will commence his duties on October 16. There were 160 applicants for the position.

The death occurred, last night, at the Grey River Hospital of Mrs. Sarah Anne Owen, a native of Sydney, aged 68 years, after a lengthy illness. The deceased came to Nelson in her early years, and had resided in Greymouth for 37 years. Her husband/predeceased her 17 years ago. She is survived by two sons, Messrs. John and Leslie Owen{ both of Greymouth. The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery to-morrow, leaving the residence of her son, Mr. J. Owen, Kilgour Road.

The death occurred, last evening, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. H. Hahn, Petrie Avenue, of Mrs. Sophia Low, wife of John Low, of Runanga, aged 59 years. The deceased, who was a native of Lanarkshire, Scotland, had resided in Runanga for the past 20 years. She had been ailing for about nine months. she is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mesdames Murray (Wanganui), P. Cornish (Koklri), S. Pope (Ahaura), and H. Hahn (Greymouth), and two sons, James and William; also ten grandchildren. Mr. Joseph Low, Greymouth, is a nephew of deceased.
