U.S.A. TOURNAMENTS [by CABLE PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, August 15. At Forest. Hills, Joan Ridley (Britain) defeated Helen Jones (Beach Bluff, Mass.), 6/1, 6/2. Mrs. L. R. C. Mitchell (Britain) defeated Barbara Stoddard (New York) 6/1, 6/3. At Newport, Rhode Island, a fea.ture of the opening day of the Casino Tennis Tourney, straight set, was the elimination of Jack Tidball, United States inter-Collegiate Champion, by 11. G. Lee (Britain), Ted Avery (Britain) also advanced, but seven others of Britain’s nine entries, were defeat ed. NEWPORT, August 16. The last British entries in the Casino tennis tournament, were eliminated, when Shields defeated Avery 7-5, 6-0, and Gregory Manging defeated Lee 6-2, 6-1.
