The death occurred at the Old People’s Home yesterday, of an old resident of the Grey district, Chow Gem Young, a native of China, aged 81 years. He had been an inmate of the old People’s Home for some time.

A valedictory evening was tendered last evening, at the Church of Christ, to Mr. and Mrs. Cave to mark the conclusion. of his ministry with the Greymouth Church. Mr. W. H. Walton, on behalf of the Church, presented Mr. Cave with a roll of notes and expressed his appreciation of the work done during the past two years. Mr. Cave thanked all who had assisted in any way to make his stay pleasant, making mention especially of the officers, organists, Sunday helpers and youth workers. He expressed his appreciation of- the traditional West Coast hospitality extended to his wife and himself wherever they had gone.. The Runanga ladies presented Mrs. Cave with a. linen luncheon set, and Mr. Cave received from the Greymouth Sunday School a silver mounted umbrella. Mr. Cave has accepted a position on the field staff of an insurance company, and will, meanwhile, reside in Greymouth.
