In view of the long-standing engagement for a British team to compete in Finland, on September 3, the recent participation of Nurmi, in the Finnish amateur athletic championships, raises a difficult question of policy. The Finns refuse to recognise Nurmi’s suspension and are certain to include him against the British team, the members of which, if they compete against him, will technically lose their amateur status, and therefore be unable to participate in the Olympic Games.
