NEW ZEALAND WINNERS [BY CABLE PRESS ASSN. COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, August 15. The Golden Chest Art Union for city charities was drawn yesterday, and the first prize, consisting of diamonds worth £3OOO was won by George Peebles, of Taneatua, Auckland. It wafl also announced that a New Zealand syndicate, the names of which are not disclosed, drew the second prize of £lOOO in the 116th State lottery of New South Wales. EX-SOLDIER AND BACHELOR [special to “stab.”] AUCKLAND. August 10. Mr. George Peebles, of Taneatua, is single and aged 35. He assists his father in a general store. He was born at Taneatua, and educated at Auckland Grammar School. He went overseas with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, and after the armistice was stationed at Cologne, returning to New Zealand toward the end of 1919. He is a well-known footballer and golfer in the Bay of Plenty.
