[PUB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] 1 FOUND DEAD. WELLINGTON, August 15. A retired schoolmaster, David Al--1 bert Musgrove, aged about 60 years, was found dead in his room in a private hotel in Wellington this morning. ' The police understand that Musgrove } had lately been living in Auckland. He is believed to have been single, and to have had relatives in New Zealand. Owing to a minor defect in the port engines, the cruiser Diomede will be delayed in port one day. The fault was noticed -when the cruiser was leaving the Gulf to return to Auckland. The gearing of the port engine was damaged. The Diomede entered port on one engine. DUNEDIN WATER LOAN. DUNEDIN, August 15. A poll of the ratepayers was to-day held on a proposal to raise a loan of £185,000 to augment" the city water supply from Deep Stream. The loan was carried on a small poll by a majority of nearly six to one, the voting being: For the proposal, 5319; against 960. A total of 6307 ratepayers registered their votes out of a total of 21,000 on the roll. OLD MAN’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, August 15. The death occurred to-day of Henry Pyke, of Northcote, aged 78, who had been taken to Auckland Hospital the previous afternoon, after having collapsed on a ferry steamer. At the time Pyke was on h,is way to the hospital for massage treatment to his arm, which he had fractured in an accident at Northcote on May 27 last. On that occasion he was rescued from drowning by his grand-daughter.
