BLACKBALL NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The Noble Grand, Bro. J. Kidd, presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Blackball Lodge, there being a large attendance. A letter from the district secretary regarding rules and female members was received. Owing to Sister Knowles’ resignation from the Vice Grand’s chair, Bro. D. Kidd was appointed for the rest of the term. Opportunity was taken by the members to wish Sister Knowles bon voyage on her trip to England. Sister Knowles thanked them for the kind expressions. Sick pay to the amount of £l7 was passed for payment. Under the guidance of Miss D. McMahon a number of school children will leave on Thursday to attend the Winter Show in Christchurch. Mr D. McVicar, Clifford Street, leaves to-morrow on a visit to Christchurch. Dr. E. Baker-McLaglan, Education doctor, is paying her annual visit of inspection to the local school. Mesdames W. Goodall and F. Smith left yesterday on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Messrs V. Davies and R. Dumpleton, who have been visiting Christchurch, have returned home. Mrs E. Dumpleton is an inmate of the Grey Hospital, where 'she is to undergo an operation. Mr J. Haisty, snr., is on a brief business visit here.
