MEASURE OF AGREEMENT. f PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, August 15. Conversations are proceeding between the Commonwealth and the New Zealand Governments as the result of which the lifting of the embargo against the importation into the Dominion of South Australian, oranges is expected any day now. Although these discussions have not yet ceased, it is understood * that considerable progress has been made in negotiations between the two Governments and that the removal of the embargo. as far as South Australia is concerned, is almost an accomplished • fact. The proposed'lifting of the' embargo refers only to South Australia, where the fruit fly is now nonexistent. - 1 ■ A Press Association message from Invercargill states that the embargo has been lifted so far as South Australian oranges .are .concerned. In official quarters, however, it is stated that the embargo is well on'the way to being lifted, but that its actual removal has not yet taken place. S. AUSTRALIAN .ORANGES. INVERCARGILL, August 15. South Australian oranges, which has been in force from the beginning of the year, and which has resulted in the cessation, of shipments which, in the. normal course of. events, would have been .arriving from the end of the month, has now been lifted. The result of this will be that oranges will be available in much larger quantities, and at a considerably lower price than has been the case when the only supplies have been from America and the Islands. This morning, Mr. Frank Bray, Executive member for Southland of the New Zealand Fruit .and- Produce Auctioneers and Importers Federation, stated that he had received cabled advico from Mr. C. N. S.
