FOREST FIRES

ST. JOHNS, August 11
Several villages on the northern coast of Newfoundland were evacuated, to-night, when forest fires prevented any escape, except by water. Hundreds of small boats carried the panic-stricken refugees to safety.
Several buildings on the outskirts of Burlington were destroyed.
