[our own correspondent.] Mr Blair, formerly stationmaster at Kumara Junction, is on a visit to Kumara. Mr Blair is stationed in Soutn Canterbury. Mi’s Rowe, of Dillmans, is seriously The first regular meeting of the newly formed branch of the Women s Institute was held in Trinity Hall on Thursday and, despite the inclement weather, there was an attendance of over thirty ladies, over whom Mis Page presided. The appointment oi officers previously elected’ was confirmed. Mrs Page briefly addressed the gathering, outlining the aims, objects and activities of the Institute. Suggestions were then invited for. future demonstrations, and the following are some of the suggestions: —Glove and mocassin-making, icing cakes, knitting socks, nursing and cup-reading. The competition for the August meeting is to make a useful article out of household scraps. A question box will be installed where questions .may be deposited by anyone desiring information on any particular subject. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies committee.
