ITALIAN SQUADRON. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] MONTREAL, July 14. The Italians arrived to-day from Shediac. LINDBERGHS’ JOURNEY. (Received July 15, 10.30 a.m.) BOTWOOD (Newfoundland), July 14. The Lindberghs took off, to-day, for Cartwright, having arrived here earlier from St. Johns. NEW ZEALAND’S DEFENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. The establishment of a chain of aerodromes and landing grounds for emergency defence of New Zealand was urged on the Minister of Defence (Mr Cobbe) by representatives of the New Zealand Aero Club. The Minister gave an encouraging reply. General Burgess admitted that more aerodromes were necessary for the defence of New Zealand. The deputation said that to put the work in hand would do a great deal towards relieving unemployment. The scheme was already endorsed by the Unemployment Board, and was only awaiting the approval of Cabinet.
