Sorting through some old Press cuttings at the Alexander Museum, Wanganui, recently, a. reader found one telling of a typewriter stored at the museum, that had belonged to. Major Kemp. It was the first type writer on the coast, and used at Putiki Pa, years before any white man possessed one. IL was given to the late Mr S. 11. Drew by Wiki Kemp, after her father’s death, and he used it (in museum business for many years. The old machine is still in good order.
