Men in Nazi uniform at Chemnitz made a nocturnal raid on the home of Dr. Weiner, a well-known. Jewish lawyer, who served with distinction in the war. They produced a warrant for his arrest, and removed him in a motor-car. His bullet-riddled body was later found in the countryside. The police declare that the warrant was fictitious. The imprisoned Communist, Zitau, was shot dead by a Nazi, “while attempting to escape.” PEOPLE’S PARTY. BERLIN, April 12. The late Dr Streseman’s People’s Party is rapidly disappearing. Its headquarters state that the Party is placing itself at the disposal of the new regime, pending further political developments, but a number of the branches are dissolving themselves, and their members are joining the Nazis.

REFUGEES IN LONDON. LONDON, April 12. Numbers of Jews continue to seek refuge in England from Germany. The latest include a Judge, several barristers, literary men, doctors, musicians, and business men. The majority found a welcome in London among Jewish families. Only about a dozen are in a temporary shelter, dealing normally with Jewish transmigrants.

ARRESTED ENGLISHMAN RUGBY, April 12. Replying to a question in the Commons, Sir J. Simon said that the Englishman, Geoffrey Fraser, was arrested in Berlin on April 4, because he was in possession of Communist documents, including matter relating to subversive propaganda, and Untrue statements regarding atrocities in Germany. He was further suspected of the intention of spreading these untrue reports amongst the German army and police. The final indictment was not yet drawn up. Arrangements had been made for the British Consul to visit Fraser to-morrow. Fraser has received every consideration at the hands of the police, and is reported to be in good health.
