Mr James Ring returned, on Saturday, from a visit to Christchurch,

Mr and Mrs G. H. Preston returned on Saturday, from Invercargill.

Mr and Mrs R. Heffernan returned by Saturday’s express from Christchurch.

Mx;g G. Courtney, Wellington, arrived on Saturday, on a holiday visit to Greymouth.

Miss V. Haglund returned on Saturday, from a holiday visit to Christ church.

Miss Battersby, who has been the guest of Mrs J. Whiting, Blackball, for the week-end, has returned home.

Mr W. Fowler, of the Railway Department, Lyttelton, and formerly of Greymouth, arrived on Saturday on a short visit.

Mr J. Green, of the Greymouth Railway Workshops staff, who was recently married, w r as met on Saturday by his fellow-workers. and presented with a crystal salad bowl, silver servers, and cheese knife. The presentation was made by the foreman, Mr G. Black.

Mr W. A. Kiely, Inspector of the Union Bank of Australia for New Zealand, is retiring after nearly 45 years’ service with the bank. He will be succeeded by Mr T. P. Fotheringham, manager of the Wellington branch of the Union Bank. —Press Assn.

The death took place from miners’ phthisis at Reefton yesterday, of Mr. William Henry Tomlinson, at the age of 44 years. He was a native of Beachworth, Victoria. He came to the Coast and worked at the Globe mine. For the last nine years he had worked in Waiuta. He is survived by a widow and family of four girls and six boys.
