CYCLING AT VICTORIA PARK In the presence of a fair attendance the Greymouth-United Cycling Club held a successful meeting at Victoria Park, last evening. The conditions were ideal, and the races produced the keenest contests, and most exciting finishes this season. In the halfmile senior event, four riders crossed the line practically on terms, making tliq judging difficult. The other two senior races were also fought out in fast time, the riders displaying excellent form. No times were taken, but the pace was on all the way, the distances being covered in what were probably the best times for the season. Results were: —

Half Mile. —H. Wilson 25yds 1, D. Clark 50yds 2, J. Daniells 60yds 3. Also started: P. Duffy scr, L. Hogarth 40, E. Thomas 50, W. Innes 50, Rowlands 85. Won by inches each way. Duffy was fourth. Boys’ Half Mile. —R. Daniells 1, Hogarth 2, Johnston 3. Eleven started. Won by a length each way. One Mile.—H. Wilson 60yds 1, D. Clarke 75yds 2, L. Hogarth 75yds 3. Also started: P. Duffy scr, E. Thomas 85, W. Innes 85, J. Daniells 100, Rowlands 180. Won by a wheel, half a length.

BOWLING I'ho final of the doubles championship of the Greymouth Bowling Club was played, last evening, Davies and Mercer (s) 21 defeating Kyle and Whibley (s) 13. CRICKET. Marist v. Prior to the selection of the South Island, team for the intei’-Island Soccer match it is proposed to play a representative fixture between Canterbury and Otago on April 8, and in this connection the secretary of the Canterbury Association advised t lie local association that his committer was prepared to send a. team to Dunedin if Otago would pay the expenses of the players, including probable Westland players, to and from Dunedin. The Chairman pointed out that the expense of bringing Westland players to Dunedin would greatly add to the cost, and he suggested that Canterbury might be asked to assist financially.

It was decided to agree to play the match hero, provided' that, in the event of loss, Canterbury would pay the West Coast players’ expenses to and from Christchurch. The English Cup will not be at stake in this match.

The Empire Games Federation have arranged for the second Empire Games, at London, in 1934, lasting ten days, embracing track, field events, hexing, swimming, cycling and wrestling.
