KUBELIK INJURED

VICTIM OF CAR SMASH. PRAGUE,. January 15. Jan Kubelik, the violinist, received serious injuries here last night in a motor-car accident. As he was driving through the main street in the suburb of Bubentch with his pianist, M. Holecek, liis car was struck by a motor-lorry travelling at high speed. Kubelik’s car- was flung across the road and turned over two or three times. The violinist’s injuries include two fractured ribs. The pianist’s hips v/cr'e crushed and he is suffering from concussion. The first question Kubelik asked on being picked up was, “Where is the Stradivarius?” Fortunately the violin was not harmed. It is feared that Kubelik may have suffered injuries which can. only be discovered by X-ray examination. He complains of internal pains. His hands which are insured for £20,000 with two American companies, suffered no in-. jury.
