The New Zealand intermediate and .junior swimming championships opened at the Municipal Baths- this afternoon. ’l'he official opening was at night, when a thousand were present. In the competition for the War Memorial Shield, Auckland gained three points, and Manawatu one. Several exhibitions were given. There were several tine performances, but no records were broken. Results: — Iboyds Junior Girls: Miss Johnson (Auckland) 1, Miss Robertson (Westport) 2, Miss Gillies (Otago) 3. Time 1.13 4-5.

COBDEN CLUB’S CARNIVAL. Good entries with contestants from all parts should attract a large attendance to the Municipal Swimming Baths this evening’ when the Cobden Swimming Club’s Carnival will be held. Events for men, women, boys and girls, combined with a number of novelties are included on the programme. A good evening’s entertainment is assured. The following handicaps have been
