HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL. [our own correspondent.] HOKITIKA, January 14. The Hokitika Council met last evening. The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry), Crs T? W. Duff. E. W. Heenan, Dr. Teichelmann. A. C. Armstrong, G. Heinz. D. J. Evans. Apologies for absence of Crs Elcock and Stuart were received. , ■ An application for extraordinary water supply by F. Andrews, was granted subject to the usual conditions. The Treasurer reported receipts of £652 1/2, payments £678 7/6, debit £525 15/5, accounts amounting to £879 13/2 were submitted and passed for payment. N.Z. Refrigerating Co., wrote that the following quantities of meat were delivered into Hokitika during the month of October: 21 sheep, 23 lambs; and during November, 46 sheep, 41 lambs. The Secretary, State Collieries’ Combined Picnic Committee, wrote asking for the use of Cass Square for the annual picnic on Saturday, Feb. 11, 1933.

Neil Warren, applied for permission to erect a verandah at shop at the corner of Fitzherbert Street and Stafford Street. —Granted. The secretary, Municipal Association, Wellington, wrote (a) Asking Local Bodies not to finalise or publish their lists of farm lands until the Subcommittee set up by the Association have reported and the report has been discussed at the Municipal Conference, (b) Same, intimating that the Government has given an assurance that upon the application of a local authority to specially invest instalments of Sinking Fund under Section 5, Sub-sec-tion 2, of the Local Authorities Sinking Fund Act, 1932, the authorising Order-in-Council will be issued as a matter of course, except in extraordinary circumstances, (c) Intimating that Municipal Conference of delegates will assemble at Rotorua on March 2, 1933. (d) Intimating that in order to meet the cost of test cases brought by the Association, that it has been decided to make a levy on all those affiliations whose annual subscription amounts to £8 or over. The amount due by the Council is £1 3/6. —• Approved. W. E. Gaylor, Inspector, applied for 14 days’ annual leave. —Granted. M. S. Andrews, stenographer, applied for 14 days’ annual leave.— Granted. The Foreman reported on work carried out during the month, and stated the average depth of water in the reservoir was 3feet 3 inches. The usual resolution authorising imposing the 10 per cent penalty on all unpaid rates was passed. The Manager of the Abattoirs reported: Animals slaughtered during* month: 8 cows, 15 heifers, 44 bullocks, 247 sheep, 317 lambs, 7 pigs, 10 calves. Condemned, 1 cow. Fees received £7O 14/6; fees for same period last year £73 6/6.
