SEARCH FOR HINKLER. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Received January 14, 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 13. The Air Ministry broadcast a request to France, Italy, and Switzerland, that regular fliers keep a sharp lookout far Hinkler, and has similarly telegraphed Turkey and Bulgaria. Lady Bailey, whose Puss Moth with extra tanks is ready for an attempt on the Cape Town record, is willing to search for Hinkler, but like everyone else, wonders where to start. HELICOPTER RESEARCH. PARIS, January 13. The International Aeronautical Federation’s gold medal, where-off Hinkler was a former winner, has been awarded for 1932 to Senor Delacierva, for helicopter developments. IMPERIAL AIRWAYS RUGBY, January 12. The Imperial Airways’ London to Cape Town air route, which was established less than a year ago, is being operated with remarkable success, traffic having increased nearly 50 per cent, in the past three months. Such is the demand for short trip accommodation on Alexandria-Cape Town sections, that a new fleet of machines is being completed. One of these 22 seaters is on the way to Cape Town with Sir Eric Geddes, the Chairman of the Imperial Airways. A fleet of four' Handley-Page biplanes of type 42, which are the largest air liners yet commissioned by any transport company, have established a record in regular day-by-day operation in the cross-Chan-nel service of the Imperial Airways. Throughout the winter and summer months, these giant craft, driven by four 550 horse-power Jupiter air-cooled motors, make the London-Paris journey with clock-work precision. Four planes between them have flown the equivalent of 40,000 miles, and have carried altogether 47,300 passengers. During the summer months, each machine has carried a daily average of 55 passengers.
