REEFTON NOTES

[OUB OWN COBBESPONDENT.] REEFTON, November 12. A meeting of the Reefton Musical and Literary Society was held last evening. There was a good attendance of members. Rev. Father Seymour presided. It was reported that the Committee had considered the purchase of a piano, and it had decided to purchase an instrument. The price was considered by the meeting to be satisfactory,' and the acton of the Committee and President was endorsed. It was resolved that, an entertainment be organised to endeavour to clear the cost of the instrument. An enjoyable programme was given, the following being the items: —Two numbers by the Glee Party, “Softly Fall the Shades of Evening” and “May Day”; vocal duet, “Juanita,” Mesdames Burnett and McElwee; vocal solo, Mrs Archer, ‘A Red Rose Bud”; Mr W. Breff, “Until”; Mr Lawn, “Youth”; Mjrs D. Wright, “My Ain Wee vocal duet, Mesdames Kane and Sharpe, “The Last Rose of Summer”; violin solo, Miss M. Costelloe; banjo solo, Mr Gillette; vocal solo, Mr j. Lockington, “The Sweetest Flower that Blows”; piano duet, “Valse De Fleurs,” Misses O’Brien and Magee; piano solo, “Ballet Egyptian," Mrs H. Campbell. The accompanists were. Mesdames Kane, Archer, Lawn, Misses Stallard and Magee, while a humorous sketch was given by Miss M. Thompson and Mr S. Robinson Miss Dorothy Heslop, of the staff of the Grey River Hospital, is spends ing her annual leave in Reefton.
