HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL. 4? [OUB OWN COBBESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, November 12. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry), Crs Teichelmann, A. C. Armstrong, E. W. Heenan, D. P. Stuart, G. Heinz, T. W. Duff, Jas. King. Apologies were received for the absence of Crs Evans and Elcock. Mrs F. Preston applied for permission to erect suspension verandah at tea-rooms, Revell Street, and also for permission to allow scaffolding on part of footpath during the time that building is under repairs.—Granted. Reg. Morgan and other residents wrote asking that footpath between Mrs Findlay’s residence in Revell Street to Spencer Street, be formed. — Work to be done. F. Allen wrote asking that some gravel be placed in front of her shop in Hampden Street. The N.Z. Refrigerating Co. advised that the following quantities of meat were delivered into Hokitika during the month of September. —33 sheep, 8 lambs 1 pig. The Prime Minister acknowledged receipt of Council’s representations in respect of the proposed transfer of the Stamps and Deeds Office, from Hokitika' and intimating that the representations would receive full consideration.

W. J. Barrow wrote asking who was .responsible for the placing of the wooden cart stop on Sewell Street in front of W. Jeffries and Co’s., property. —Referred to Council’s Solicitor. The Secretary, Returned Soldiers’ Association, Hokitika, wrote intimating that the Association are desirous of obtaining a suitable piece of land to be worked by ex-service men in producing vegetables.—Resolved that th© east end of Weld Street between Jollie Street and Livingston Street be offered. The Treasurer reported receipts £463/17/11, expenditure £1449/18/5, Cr. £42/4/4. Accounts aggregating the sum of £671/0/4 were presented and passed for payment. The Foreman’s report was read and adopted. The depth of water in the river was given at sft Ilin. The Abattoirs Manager reported stock slaughtered during the month, 9 cows, 40 heifers, 34 bullocks, 331 sheep, 40 lambs/ # pigs; condemned nil. Fees received £59/14/6; for same period last year £62/14/0. It was stated that half the quantity of tar (2250 gallons) would be required this summer. The Clerk reported that Mr W. Wieblity had left the service of the Council.
