Mr and Mrs J. Efford returned, yesterday, from a holiday visit to Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs F. W. Shallcrass returned, yesterday, from a visit to Christchurch.

The death occurred this morning, of Mrs Harkness, wife of Mr J. H. Harkness, Mayor of Westport. Deceased, who was a native of the Nelson district, had been in ill health for several months.
Mr L. O’Malley, who for the past twelve months has been relieving stationmasters and clerks at various stations in Westland, has re-com-menced duties at his headquarters, Greymouth.
A Stockholm cablegram stated that the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology, 1932, has been jointly awarded to Sir Charles Sherrington and Professor Edgar Douglas Adrian, for their discoveries in connection with the function of neurons.
Mr Gullett, Federal Minister of Customs, has suffered a complete breakdown in health since his return from Ottawa, and he is unable to attend Parliament, which fact is holding up the debate on the Ottawa agreements (states a cablegram from Canberra). Fears are expressed that his condition is so serious that he may be compelled to resign from the Ministry.
