The report of the Minister of Education shows that in 1931 there were 305 registered private primary schools in New Zealand, of which fifty-three were undemoninational, 214 were Catholic Church schools, and thirtyeight were other Church schools. The rolls at December were as follow: — Undenominational. 1041 boys. 1215 girls, total 2256; Catholic' Church schools, 10.737 boys, 11.750 girls, total 23.487; other Church schools, 722 boys, 1261 girls, total, 1983; grand total, 26,726. Particulars relating to teachers (inclusive of bead teachers-) are as follow: —Undenominational 37 men. 109 women; Catholic Church schools, 49 men, 666 women: other. Church schools. 21 men, 77 women. In com parison with the previous year, the report records an increase of thirteen and five respectively in the number of undenominational and Catholic Church schools, and a decrease of nineteen in the number of other 1 Church schools. ‘
