CALCUTTA, October 27.
A collective fine of £6OOO has been imposed by the Bengal Government on the inhabitants of the Chittagong town of Pahartali, the scene of a recent terrorist outrage. Seven surrounding villages are also included in the fine in consequence of a faillure on the part of their Hindu residents to give th e Government information regarding a terrorist whom the Government suspected the residents to be harbouring and assisting. The realisation of the line is to be postponed until December 1, to see whether the action of some prominent Hindu inhabitants in forming associations to aid the Government to track, terrorists will prove effective.
