CRICKET

BRADMAN AND BOARD.

[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.]

SYDNEY, October 14

The Associated Newspapers, Ltd., which have Don Bradman under contract, published a statement that until such time as Bradman breaks the Board of Control rule about playerwriters, the Board cannot penalise him.

Cricketing circles interpret this to mean that Bradman will not be expected to write about the Tests or any other first-class matches, and that, therefore, he is unlikely to come into conflict with the Board. The New South Wales Cricket Association is making a move next week to end the deadlock between Don Bradman and the Board of Control. It is expected' that a satisfactory solution will be reached. <

The Redpath Cup for the 1931-32 season has been awarded by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to A. AV. Roberts, of Canterbury. This trophy, given by the late Mr David Redpath, is given to the batsman in a. major association whose performances during the season in representative and foreign matches have been, in the opinion of the Management Committee, the most meritorious. The trophy itself is held for one year by the player, but the council issues a

miniature cup which becomes the property of the holder.
