OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. Lionel and John Barrymore are featured in “Arsene Lupin,” to be screened to-night. The next chapter of the serial and a Laurel-Hardy comedy will also be screened. “The Spoilers” will be screened on Sunday night. Proceeds in aid of Mayor’s Unemployment Fund.

WALLSEND—SUNDAY. “Monte Carlo” will be screened on Sunday night. PAROA TENNIS DANCE. Excellent arrangements have been completed for the Paroa Tennis Club’s Masquerade fancy dress dance to be held in the Paroa Hall on Tuesday next. Liberal prizes will be given for the best hard-up, most humorous, most original, and best other fancy dress. Cowan’s orchestra will supply the music, and an efficient M. C., will be in charge of the floor. A splendid supper will be served. Kennedy’s Bus will leave the Post Office at 8.15 p.m.

FIVE BIG VAUDEVILE ACTS. Five big vaudeville acts head the programme to be presented by the Greymouth Frivolities and T.Y.M.I. Entertainers at the Town Hall on Tuesday next. They are the Franek Bros., champion marksmen, Prince Ganji, the Shiek with 1000 eyes; Grattan, one-wheel marvel; Roberta, perfect mechanical woman; and Baron Munchausen, a battle-scarred warrior, who narrates adventures on land and sea. Supporting artists are Harold Prescott, Airs F. Tempero, Rev. Father O’Meeghan, Mavis Burgoyne, Austin Sisters, Tiny Blake, William McGrath and Wilde and Coll. The accomp'anistes are Misses P. Carroll, and V. Millar and Mrs H. Fell. Intending patrons would be well advised to reserve at the Bristol.

VERA COOPER RECITAL. The outstanding successes that have resulted from the appearance at the recent Competition Festival of Miss Vera Cooper’s pupils is a factor that will ensure the success of the dance recital to be given by Miss Vera Cooper at the Town Hall, Tuesday, October 25. Miss Cooper herself and pupils will be seen in a number of beautiful solo dances and specialty ballets, possessing added attractiveness by reason of their glorious- dostunies. Two of Mr Harold Prescott’s pupils, Miss Marvel Warnes (soprano) and' Mr Eve Boote, both of whom arc warm favourites of Groymouth audiences, are the assisting artists. The box plan opens at the Bristol, Tuesday, October IS, and there is no extra charge for reserving seats in the dress circle. LABOUR DAY BALL. • There are two major attractions that the people of Greymouth are looking forward to in the near future. The Trotting Meeting, and, equally as popular, the annual Labour Day Ball, ■which is to be held in 'Schaef’s Hall on Labour Night, Monday, October 24. Extensive preparations are in hand for this popular function, and \ho trouble is being spared' 'to make this ball eclipse previous' successes. All tastes will be catered for by a wellbalanced programme of old and modern dances.
