RUGBY, August 11.
Britain is experiencing a mild, pleasant heat wave, with the temperature about 80 degrees. Patches of fog in the channel have not spread inland, where delightful summer weather is general. The highest temperature for the past two years was to-day recorded in London, when the thermometer reached 88 degrees in the shade, and 135 in the sun.
PRINCE’S TRAVELS.
RUGBY, August 11.
The Prince of Wales has consented to the publication of an account of his sporting trips to East Africa in 1928 and 1930, contained in his private diaries. The book will be entitled “Sport and Travel in East Africa,” and will be illustrated with photographs taken by His Royal Highness and with maps.
CHANNEL SWIMMER.
RUGBY, August 11.
E. H. Teame, a London clerk, who five years ago, swam from France to Dover in 14 hours 29 minutes, entered the water at Dover this morning in an attempt to swim to France.

LONDON, August 12,
Rev. P. Clayton announces that two Toe H. ambassadors, the Rev. F. E. Ford, for three years a travelling chaplain in India, and Henry Chappell, who recently assisted Mr Clayton at An Hallorys, London, are meeting at Singapore, to-morrow, preliminary to a tour of Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan, to help Toe H in every way possible. They will carry the Prince of Wales’s message as patron.
ARRESTED IRISHMAN,
OTTAWA, August 12
Dan Maloney, who was suspected of designs on Mr. J. H. Thomas’s life, re-appeared in the Toronto Court, and ho again was remanded, in custody. The prosecution intimated that the immigration authorities were investigating an alleged irregularity in his citizenship, and that they may apply for his deportation.
LATER.
Inspector Mitchell, of the Immigration Department, concluded the hearing to-day of the case, and ordered Malono to be deported at the public charge.
