U.S.A. TO JAPAN PROJECT.

A message from Copalis Beach Washington) states that Nat Browne, of New York, to-day, lifted his allmetal monoplane, in which he hopes to fly to Japan, with a load, of 50001b5., from the beach, after a mile and a quarter run, using sandbags for weight. He hopes to complete the tests with 75001b5., which is approximately the weight of fuel that will be required for the prospective flight. He is returning to Seattle before Sunday, to instal a large fuselage fuel tank, which will hold 800 gallons.

A Zurich message states that Professor Piccard is ascending immediately the atmospheric conditions are satisfactory, which it is hoped will be to-morrow.
