SOCCER FOOTBALL
THE DEWAR CUP. At Victoria Park, to-morrow, the Canterbury and Westland junior representative teams will meet in the first contest for the handsome Dewar Cup. This Cup was presented by John Dewar and Sons, Ltd., to the Westland Football Association. In the first place, John Dewar and Sons proposed giving caps to the winning team, of any competition which the Westland
Association decided on. After further consideration, however, the firm decided a cup would arouse much greater interest. f The Westland Association decided, that as the junior grade did not have a trophy, the cup be for competition between Westland and Canterbury. The rules governing the. cup have yet to be drawn up, but one condition will be that the contests for it will be played alternately in Greymouth and Christchurch. The Westland Association will meet all expenses, including travelling charges for the visiting team, in to-morrow’s match.
