OTHER PORTS WESTPORT, July 28. Sailed at 10.15 a.m., Gael, for Greymouth. SHIPPING" NOTES The Totara sailed yesterday afternoon witn coal for New Plymouth. The Komata- sailed yesterday afternoon with coal for Wellington. The Kiwitea arrived yesterday afternoon from Wellington, and she is scheduled to sail this afternoon with coal and timber for Auckland. The Karepo arrived this morning from Bluff. She is scheduled to sail on Tuesday with timber for Melbourne and Adelaide.

The Rata is due to-night from Wellington, via Nelson pnd Westport, with general cargo. She is scheduled to sail to-morrow with coal, for Nelson, via Tarakohe. MATSON LINE. OTTAWA, July 27. The next item for discussion will be the problem of competitive Pacific shipping, which Canada, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia will consider with Britain, with a view to amending the maritime law - to prevent Ame? rican shipping lines competing between British ports.
