OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. “Dracula” the story of the strangest passion the world has ever known, featuring Bella Sugosi, David Manners and Helen Chandler, will be screened to-night, and Thursday. BLACKBALL TO-NIGHT. “It’s Tough to be Famous will be screened at Blackball to-night and Thursday. KARORO SPORTS CLUB. To-morrow evening in the United Pavilion youth will vie in their efforts to enjoy to the full the excellent bill of fare provided at the above club a long night old time dance. The ladies’ committee of the Club will see that the supper is in keeping with the event —with the floor in first class condition, patrons should go away with pleasant memories of the excellent programme which has been arranged. Billy Williams’ orchestra (specially augmented for the occasion) will dispense their best. GRAND RAILWAY SOCIAL. 4" A grand Railway Social will be held at the Druids’ Hall on Friday. TE KINGA DANCE. The Te Kinga footballers’ committee is working to ensure a successful ball on August 6. An energetic ladies’ committee under the leadership of Miss Amy Watson, has the arrangements well in hand, and everyone can be assured of tasting succulent dainties. Train arrangements have been completed to cater for town patrons as well as country this train will stop at every station from Te Kinga where required. The Gaiety orchestra has been engaged to supply old and new dance numbers. The hall will be a blaze of light and colour, and patrons are promised a night that will be long remembered by all who visit Te Kinga on August 6. ALL NATIONS FAIR

A special announcement appears in this issue calling for helpers next Saturday in the sale of street tokens for the hospital and schools queen. The headquarters of the committee is in Mackay Street, opposite Badger’s which will be a rallying point for helpers, and well wishers from town and country. At various points of vantage in the town ladies will be stationed selling tokens at a very small sum; the possessor of a token will not be asked for any further contribution on that day. The Committee will be grateful for any goods that can be disposed of at the shop and it is also desirous of enrolling general assistants in this effort. The main school committee is lending its aid and it is hoped that the financial results will prove that the public needs only this reminder to wholeheartedly assist.
