CONSCIENTIOUS M.L.A.

£2OO TO THE UNEMPLOYED. SYDNEY, June 29. Following his assurance last week that he could not conscientiously accept his Parliamentary salary above out-of-pocket expenses when there was so much distress through unemployment, Mr Alex. Mair, the newly elected M.L.A. for Albury, has written to the Mayor (Aiderman Waugh) intimating that, hd has decided to make £2OO out of his salary available immediately. To date he has not received any Parliamentary allowance, but with winter at hand he considers that now is an opportune moment for the gift to be distributed.

The local committee will consider to-day how the gift should be applied.
