OLD MAN MURDERED
MAORI YOUTH’S TRIAL. [per press association.] WHANGAREI, June 27. Heta Fred Gardner, sixteen and a-half years, was brought before the Court this morning,.charged with murdering George Crewe, an old age pensioner at Rutangata, about May 27. The Court was crowded. Evidence up to noon related to the discovery of deceased’s body in bed with his head smashed by the back of an axe, which was standing a_gainst a table in the room.
